I just got done having a few beers at yet another bar full of British folk. I'm getting quite used to it though, being in the minority as an American. I even find myself saying a few things with their accent. It kind of seems natural, right up until that moment when I meet the one of very few other Americans or Canadians here on the island as well. They never say anything and it takes me a little before I hear the way I'm pronouncing things and realize that I must sound pretty rediculous to them. I just can't help it. I notice accents almost right away and can't help but try to adjust my own so that I don't completely stick out. I have fooled a more than a couple of Brits too, into definitely not realizing I'm American. I'll take that as a complement as far as I'm concerned. It's when they start talking premier league or rugby that I certainly get lost and give myself away though...

I went to a Thai cooking class earlier this evening. It was rather pleasant, as everything was layed out nicely in front of us and our teacher carefully explained what to do with each step. I don't know that I'll be able to recreate any of the 4 dishes that we made, but I'm willing to try 2 of them. When everything was finished, the 5 of us that cooked sat down and ate our own creations. I must say, for someone that normally has very little culinary skill, they made me look like a pretty damn fine cook. Everything was really good, even with the extra spice that we all threw in. I've got a couple more days here on the island before going back to Bangkok for a night and then korea. I'm thinking about doing another course. It's expensive, but the best real Thai food I've had as of yet.
